The Folly of Compassion

The perfect society starts in the womb. With fetal scanning and genetic engineering, it is impossible for a psychopath to be born.

So it is quite the shock for Detective James Connelly when mutilated corpses keep showing up. Even more shocking is no one wants him to actually catch the killer as politicians have seized on the murders to tighten their authoritarian grip.

When Connelly discovers the identity of the next victim he must convince her to trust him, protect her from his own department and the killer, and keep himself alive.
